The Department of Education (DepED) will conduct an early registration for the 2015-2015 school year in all public elementary and high schools nationwide from January 24 to February 27, 2015. The early registration is expected to give DepEd an estimate of the total number of enrollees for the coming school year and help the agency address any challenges that may arise during regular enrollment. Specifically, the early registration scheme is aimed at ensuring that all five-year-old children are enrolled in kinder and all six-year-old children are enrolled in Grade 1 by June. Additionally DepEd hopes to identify, locate, and enroll out-of-school children and youth from marginalized sectors, including street children, persons with disabilities, and those who live in remote locations. Parents who wish to register their children will only need to bring the child’s birth certificate.
