You know that when September rolls around, you can count on at least two things happening: 1. Loudspeakers at malls start blaring Jose Mari Chan’s Christmas in Our Hearts. 2. The Manila International Book Fair comes to town. If you missed the Big Bad Wolf Books Sale in February, you get another chance at scoring irresistible book bargains at the Manila International Book Fair. The 2018 MIBF returns to its stomping grounds, the SMX Convention Center, MOA Complex, on September 12-16. 2018. The book fair will be open from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM.
What to expect from the country’s biggest book fair? Plenty! Aside from deep discounts on a wide range of books, there’ll be workshops, book launches/signings, meet-and-greet with your favorite authors and comic book artists, workshops, competitions, and other book-related events. I couldn’t find information about ticket prices from the Manila International Book Fair website and Facebook page, but Philippine Primer provides the following information:
Ticket Prices:
General Admission – Php 50
Students, Teachers, Senior Citizens, PWDs – Php 40

If you ask me, the entrance to the Manila International Book Fair 2018 should be free. I mean, with so many exhibitors and sponsors, why do they even need to charge for admission. Thankfully, you can get free admission passes, if you know where to look. Here are three links to where you can get free entrance to the 2018 Manila International Book Fair:
Children’s publisher Adarna House gives free printable entrance tickets that you can download from Google Drive. I always print the ones from Adarna House as they’re colorful and whimsical.
National Bookstore, which, for years used to hand out entrance tickets to random customers at the cash register, has now made printable free entrance tickets, too. I love the pop art illustration in their free MIBF entrance passes.Thank you, National Bookstore.
The kind folks at UST Publishing House wants to bring you inside the Manila International Book Fair 2018 exhibition hall for free, too. Download and print these free admission passes courtesy of UST Publishing House.
You don’t need to print these in color; well you could if you want to, but greyscale/black-and-white printouts will do.
Book lovers, get ready!
The 39th Manila International Book Fair (MIBF) is set to kick off on September 12-16 at the Exhibit Halls 1-4 and Function Rooms 1-2 of SMX Convention Center, Mall of Asia Complex in Pasay City.
