I’m an ardent supporter of the Department of Education’s initiatives to improve communication and delivery of services to the public through the use of information technology. Among the DepEd’s IT-driven programs are the Learning Resources and Management and Development System (LRMDS) portal, the DepEd ALS app, and its very active Facebook page and Twitter account.
As a homeschooling mother, I’m particularly grateful for the DepEd learning modules and curriculum guides on the LRMDS portal. The LRMDS isn’t perfect. Although I was able to register without a hitch, many have reported not receiving a verification mail from the system. Also, the organization of materials on the portal is dismal. There are teaching guides and modules that overlap, i.e. appear across three grade levels. Let’s not even talk about the portal’s haphazard search feature. On some days the LRMDS portal itself is inaccessible.
